DJ ****** (440 Hz sine wave), born DJ ****** (880 Hz sine wave) in Wilmington, NC, spent much of his life growing up. Through the early years, he has lived in many locations spanning much of North Carolina, Oklahoma, North Carolina again, and then finally, Michigan. Growing up, he attended many establishments known as schools, where in return for his obligatory time, he received some edumacation. In the process, he also made friends (friends are good).
His abject interest in music first reared its aesthetically unsavory albeit grossly infatuating head when DJ ****** was but a youngin' (that's NC lingo for ya'll) in middle school, first latching on to the upbeat punk-ska tempo fathered (or mothered?) by that great pre-solo album-releasing band, No Doubt. It was in middle school that he attended his first rock concert... dare it be said, Chumbawamba. That's right, now everyone knows. Though, in all fairness, it was very entertaining.
Anyway, the great DJ ****** went on to form a rock band in high school whose foretaste was perhaps beyond their musical taste. The band, No Left Turn, began their career with an order too big to fill; a manager of a prominent downtown Wilmington club booked them to be the feature Saturday night band 3 months in advance for $300 based solely on his impression of their collective personality (they had only 3 songs to their name, no demo, and no prior experience). The band spent 2 months and 3 weeks trying to figure out how to fill an entire set, before finally filling their obligation of responsibiliy and calling the manager to cancel. The next year and a half was filled with studio recording, many club, festival, and event gigs, and ending in a 15-song original set list. The band had to call it quits when the four members went to the four corners of the globe for school/military service.
DJ ****** graduated from New Hanover High School in June of 2003 with some grades, a few consequent honors, and a profound dislike for school (which is oddly contradictory to his fondness of learning), oh yeah, and some friends. Subsequently, DJ ****** moved to Michigan to attend Kettering University in Flint, where he now pursues majors in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Not being able to stay out of the music business for too long before involuntarily extorting symptoms of withdrawal from within his seemingly content and handsomely rugged shell, DJ ****** joined a new rock band now known as Momenrt of Inertia.
In April of 2004, The Uh? Show debuted on WKUS, Kettering's network "radio" station which aired solely over the campus's Student Information Channel, Channel 10. On November 11, 2004 WKUS erected (tehe) its low power FM radio tower and officially became WKUF-LP 94.3 Flint. The Uh? Show soon became the most kick-ass show in the land, rocketing the COOL and AWESOME, most bad-ass DJ in the Universe, DJ ******, to stardom.
If you were unfortunate enough to miss it or if you were just too much of a loser to catch it, DJ****** revealed his real DJ name during the May 13th, 2003 edition of The Uh? Show. Formerly known simply as DJ****** (pronounced "beep" at about 880Hz), DJ****** let listeners in on his real DJ name, which is DJ****** (pronounced "beep" closer to 440Hz).
Every now and then, someone actually shows an interest in my show. Once listening, they begin to start asking questions... questions like,
"Who is this DJ ******?" or "Why does he exist?"
Then, even less frequently, someone thinks, "I wonder what he likes to do in his spare time. Where does he hang out? If I were to leave a burning bag of poo on his porch, at what address would I be leaving it. And what are his favorite bands?"
Well, to this last question, I have an answer (if you are one of the people asking one of the first two questions, I apologize because I do not have an answer to either... if you are one of the people asking one of the next three questions, then listen to the show to find out).
Anyway,
here is a
list of my 11 favorite bands.
Why
11? Who knows?
